Top honour for Burger King games

Blitz Arcade
2007 May 18 Blitz Arcade is basking in the reflected glory of yet another award for the games it developed for Burger King (BK). The Miami-based advertising agency, Crispin Porter + Bogusky, collected a prestigious Gold Clio Award for the Burger King Xbox Games campaign.

The Gold Award in the Content & Contact category features the videogames created by Blitz, one of which – Sneak King was designed around the well-known Burger King TV adverts. Many view this category - also known as the integrated campaign - as the most exciting since it demonstrates approaches that actively involve the consumer as part of the campaign. John Jarvis, Advergame Director for Blitz Arcade commented “It’s fantastic that the BK games have been selected for this award. Videogames are an ideal medium for building brand relationships in this new era of advertising, and hopefully winning this award will encourage other brands to consider the benefits of an Advergame.”

Philip Oliver, CEO of Blitz Games Studios commented, “We’re delighted to have played a major part in such a critically and commercially successful campaign – this is a rare example of brilliant direction, creativity and execution in every element and we’d like to congratulate CP + B, Equity Marketing and Burger King on winning this Gold Clio.”

Blitz designed and developed three highly playable games exclusively for Burger King on Xbox and Xbox 360. The games sold over 3.2 million copies at $3.99 in Burger King outlets throughout North America during the Holiday Season of 2006/2007. The games and integrated advertising campaign – both of which are interlinked and rely on each other – have been hailed as inventive, innovative and successful for all parties involved and perhaps, most crucially, consumers too.

Blitz Games Studios is ranked as the 2nd most successful studio in the UK, and 12th in Europe in a new survey by leading industry site www.next-gen.

Ninety Clio statues were awarded at the TV/Cinema awards gala at the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach tonight, including 14 gold, 22 silver and 53 bronze prizes, in addition to the Grand Clio.

The Clio Awards, owned by Adweek parent the Nielsen Co., received 19,300 entries this year.
