Blitz scoops technology award for Fairly OddParents!

BlitzTech
2004 Mar 15 Leading developer Blitz Games is celebrating today following winning the inaugural Application of Technology Award at this year's Birmingham Screen Festival.

The Award, which was created to celebrate an innovative and creative application of technology in the screen media, was presented to the company at a gala dinner last week. It recognised the company's innovative rendering technology that was created for the development of their Christmas 03 release The Fairly OddParents and the judges commented that Blitz's entry stood out above all the other nominations.

The Fairly OddParents game (published by THQ) is based on the Nickelodeon cartoon series of the same name and Blitz's rendering technology was designed to accurately recreate the distinctive visual style of the show in a fully realised 3D environment. The award was accepted on behalf of the development team by Development Director Andrew Oliver and Project Manager Jon Cartwright.

Jon was delighted with the company's win: “It's a huge honour for us to be recognised in the same awards night as our colleagues in film and television, and this award is a testament to the dedication and hard work that the entire development team put into the project.”

Duncan Kershaw, Director at THQ, was also pleased with Blitz's success: “We're thrilled that Blitz's technical innovation has been recognised in The Fairly Oddparents video game. Representing The Fairly Oddparents TV show's unique visuals was key in delivering a truly authentic product, and extending Nickelodeon's brand into the video game world. We're delighted with the results, and congratulate Blitz on their award.”
