Blitz Games award children who took the challenge
2004 Jul 01 The co-founders of Blitz Games, Philip and Andrew Oliver, visited The Clarendon School in Trowbridge, Wiltshire today to present awards to the winners of the Blitz Challenge which was set up by Blitz Games back in February this year.
The Blitz Challenge for Creative Thinking was launched to encourage school-age students to think creatively and pursue their goals in life. Year 9 pupils at the school, where Philip and Andrew Oliver attended from 1979-1986, were asked to be creative and pursue an idea that would encourage them to be pro-active and foster a desire to succeed in life.
The event focused on the benefits to be gained in life from having a positive and pro-active outlook, and outlined four categories that the pupils could choose from to create a personal challenge for themselves; charity work, sporting endeavour, creative or artistic endeavour, career plan. Many of the students devoted their spare time towards a project based on one of these challenges and produced high quality work for Philip and Andrew to judge.
Numerous certificates and cash prizes were awarded and the winner, Hollie Noden, received a cheque for £200. Hollie is aiming to be an Olympic swimmer and produced a highly detailed project outlining her efforts to improve her swimming and research all the aspects that will make her a success.
Philip Oliver is extremely pleased by the response of the students to the scheme: "We wanted to show the pupils at our old school that that they can make their dreams a reality if they have a positive and proactive outlook in life. The response has been excellent and the winners' projects were very impressive. Hollie in particular put much time and effort into her project and showed a determination to succeed that was highly admirable."
