Blitz announces rebranding and a new name.
2008 Apr 20 Blitz Games Limited, one of Europe’s leading independent video game developers today announced a subtle re-naming to Blitz Games Studios Limited – Blitz Games will live on as the label for its highly successful family games division.
A new website has also been designed and launched to reflect the significant changes in the company over the past few years - www.BlitzGamesStudios.com. Philip Oliver, co-founder and CEO of Blitz Games Studios said, "Some people still associate Blitz Games with family games only, although we've been working in different genres for years now! We've widened our horizons and grown substantially to over 230 people and this re-naming reflects that."
Blitz Games Studios is currently developing 11 titles across five divisions:
• Volatile Games (mature games) - 2 contracted but as yet unannounced, prestigious titles
• Blitz Games (family games) - 3 major contracted licensed properties across multiple platforms
• Arcade (casual games) – A number of signed titles across all digital platforms
• TruSim (serious games) – Includes training applications development and research using funding from 2 major UK government and the EU grants
• BlitzTech –Blitz's internal technology and game creation toolset, which is also selectively licensed to other video game developers.
As part of the restructuring The Virtual Experience Company has been sold back to its founder, Mike Gogan, and will become independent from 1st June 2008. We wish Mike all the best for the future.
The company continues to invest heavily in its proprietary technology 'Blitz Tech.' Blitz Games Studios is also at the forefront of a growing band of developers working increasingly closely with the UK’s educational system to inspire and teach the developers of the future.
