Technical Manager
Summary
An exciting opportunity to work with a group of small teams working on next gen original IP’s with world leading publishers. Previous experience of leading and managing small to medium sized teams is essential as is a successful track record in game development. Experience of working with remote teams is preferred but not required. More details of these exciting games can be provided at interview.
Specific requirements for this role:
• To manage an effective and efficient team, promoting good team morale.
• To prioritise and monitor programming tasks, ensuring high quality and consistency with the coding style are maintained.
• To co-ordinate all technical aspects of the project.
• Work with Tech Team to ensure best use of tools and technology.
• Work with the lead programmers on game teams to create the highest quality code possible.
• To liaise with the Project Manager to ensure that tasks are relevant to the schedule and projects goals are met.
• Maintain and oversee the general quality of all titles and the code base.
• Ensure that the Creative and Design Managers are aware of any changes to the specification, and limitations of either hardware or software.
• Work with the Creative and Design Managers to define and communicate technical limitations and guidelines, ensuring these are adhered to.
• Ensure that all technical milestones are reached and take appropriate action if the project falls behind, or takes a new direction.
• Responsible for monitoring the stability of milestones/interim builds.
• Work with the Project Manager to ensure these are delivered to the publisher.
• Ensuring good communication across all teams and all members of the project.
• Coordinate internal/external recruitment for team vacancies in conjunction with the Recruitment Department.

• Proficient in MS Project, MS Office, Power Point, Excel.
• Good understanding of game development techniques.

Expectations:
Below is a non-exhaustive list of the Companys expectations of a Programmer.
• Implement game code using C/C++ together with our own internal middleware.
• Profile, debug and maintain existing game code.
• Work with the Technical Manager and programmers to design the game code and contribute to technical design documents.
• Use our own internal tools to set up technical framework for game levels.
• Assist in preparing milestone builds as required.
• A high level of computer literacy.
• Experience of coding on PCs with Direct 3D/OpenGL or similar APIs a preference, but not required.
• Console programming experience preferred.
• Good debugging skills.
• Knowledge of current game coding techniques such as collision, memory management, AI and culling an advantage.
